Lusungu Children's Home is a refuge for orphaned children. Located in Zambia, Africa, the orphanage is a home for children who have been affected by HIV/AIDS. The Home provides nourishment, shelter, and education.

We at Lusungu Children's Home have dedicated ourselves to bringing hope and faith to those children. Presently, our needs far outweigh our resources. We have opened our hearts, and know we can help lift them out of poverty and loneliness. With your help - together - we can make this a reality.

History of Lusungu

The Lusungu Orphanage came to life in 1997, at the Praying Mountain Stones, which is our current site. My wife and I used Praying Mountain Stones as a place to meet our God in fasting and prayer.

We—Bishop Caddie Ng’ambi & Rodah Kundah Ng’ambi—being pastors—started the orphanage because many orphaned children were coming to our home, seeking food and a place to sleep. Even for a night we became like a mother and a father to them.

We extended our hearts to these children. With the help of local government council—who provided land—Lusungu Children’s Home was officially established.

During strategic planning we were guided by Zambia’s efforts to achieve the Millennium Goals. Within that context, and bearing in mind the importance of educating female children, we constructed Lusungu Children’s Home.

We also recognize that the time has come to introduce an Early Childhood Program (ages 3-6). Having this Centre will help us open the door to learning, health monitoring and enhanced psychosocial well-being for our youngest community members.

We aim to help illiterate youth who are orphans in the community gain the skills they need to understand and pursue their rights and entitlements in the areas of training, education, health and welfare. We can help achieve this by training them in literacy and mathematical skills.

Special Thanks to Kris Chartrand who put together and edited the booklet, made the bookmarks, faith promise cards and the tri-fold flier. Brandon Long for designing the banner. Dennis Schreier for putting up the map in the foyer and to all who have given to TOUCH THE WORLD.
