Great Saturday morning church
To all the women of HCF. Picnic time is today!
I have something a little bit crude for you today.
Here is the question to answer honestly---Have you ever hung up the phone on someone? Not accidentally but on purpose for whatever reason.
I will go first---Absolutely I have!!! Not proud of it now, but truth be told I have.
That is my focus this morning to you all.
Prov. 14:16 says---"A wise person is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is arrogant and careless."
No one would disagree that if you don't want to get stung by bees you learn to stay away from them. Common sense!!! (many lack)
That principle is true for many areas of our lives.
When we think of temptation, some feel that I am strong enough to handle it. Well, the truth is only foolish people say things like that.
Scripture tells us to RUN from TEMPTATION!!! Read the story of Joseph in the Old Testament.
Regardless of the temptation the goal is to get out of the situation. So, what do we do? RUN and RUN until you no longer see it, feel it, taste it. You need to physically remove yourself from its presence. In other words--HANG UP ON IT!!!! If you don't, it will convince you that it is ok to do what the temptation is leading you to.
When temptation comes--change the channel, turn on music, read your Bible, call a friend, go to church, Hang up on it. It is NOT rude to do that, it is WISE!!!!
You see when the cookies are on the table and you know you should not eat them, don't repeat over and over--I will not eat them. NO, RUN away!!!
Never argue with temptation. When TEMPTATION calls, JUST HANG UP!!!!
This works, but only if you do it.
