Good Saturday Morning
This coming Friday is Valentine's Day. I know you did not forget it. Though the holiday is not biblical, it is loaded with biblical principles. Mainly LOVE.
In EPH. 5:1-2 IT TELLS US---"THEREFORE BE IMITATORS OF GOD, AS BELOVED CHILDREN. AND WALK IN LOVE, AS CHRIST LOVED US AND GAVE HIMSELF UP FOR US, A FRAGRANT OFFERING AND SACRIFICE TO GOD'
What a powerful scripture. Go ahead, read it again, I will wait!
Love (agape in the Greek) will cost you something. It will require something from you. It is not always convenient, or even painless.
Love will often sacrifice personal interest, wants, overlooks certain things, shouts its mouth, and so many other things that were hard to do, yet because it was love, you did it.
Jesus on the cross demonstrated what real love looks like.
1 John 4:10 says, "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us first and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins"
When was the last time we did something like that? We are mandated to walk in LOVE, not just give a Valentine card or box of candy and call it DONE. No, we as children of God WALK in LOVE!!! Live it, Act it out, Go the extra mile.
You see He is not asking us to do anything He hasn't done for us.
When you deal with people, you will find many opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus AFTER you show love. Don't miss that truth. God directs us to love people because we are His extension to a lost and dying world.
So, here is my challenge to you this week even before Friday---was there someone that you could have shown love to but did not. It is not too late. God will give you another opportunity to show love to that person---DO IT!!! You will not regret it.
