Good Saturday morning Church family,
Well--today is Valentine's Day.
We often put what Valentine stands for in a small box---romance, emotions, teddy bears of course candy and overpriced flowers that die quickly.
Yet scripture has much to say about love, especially God's love. His love is not seasonal, or fragile, or even dependent on feelings. His love is steady, sacrificial and lasts forever. Would it not be great if our love was similar?
1 John 4:8 says to us---whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Love does not originate in human affection---it flows straight from God. Every healthy expression of love is a reflection of His nature.
God did not wait for us to love Him, before he loved us. He even loved us when we were a mess.
His love---forgave us when we did wrong
His love ran after us when we did not want to be bothered.
His love is patient with us.
His love is for our benefit not His.
Take a moment and read 1 COR, 13. It shows what God's love for us looks and acts like. That ought to be our pattern as well.
So, as you hand out your love to those around you, remind yourself of the love that God the Father has for you and me. Remember, His love was signed with His son's blood. His love doesn't end at the end of the day.
