Good Morning Church Family,
Prov. 11:13 speaks about "GOSSIP".
Sometimes we think of gossip as one of those "little sins" that everybody does and it's no big deal.
Yet God lists that sin with the immorality and murder types of sin. What why? Because gossip is so destructive to relationships. Gossip tears apart families, friendships and churches.
You have heard me and others say that WORDS are powerful. They are regardless of whether they are words or affirmation or words of destruction.
When you gossip you are doing one of 2 things:
1- Talking with someone who is not a part of the problem or 2- they are not a part of the solution.
Could it be that gossip makes us feel a little more important at someone's else's expense?
Think about this thought:---because we as believers are a family and one body in Christ, could it be that when we gossip about someone else, we are speaking also of yourself.
Maybe you may have been hurt by someone's gossip about you or a family member. Here is what God says to us who have been hurt---
--Pray and forgive them, so you may be released from the hurt.
--If confrontation is possible, then confront.
If it is you who has gossiped about another, here are 2 words for you. STOP IT. A few more words REPENT and RESTORE!!!
Hold on to this thought and truth:
When you keep confidence then it enables you to connect to others in productive, healthy, and genuine ways.
Here is the scripture we began with.
"Gossip betrays confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret."
I trust that is a definition of who you are. If not, let's get to it and make it right.
