Good morning church family,

Take a moment and list some of the things you have memorized in your life.

Maybe phone numbers, certain dates, pledge of allegiance, certain songs, your list may be longer than mine. Were verses of the bible on your list?

I want to share a little bit why it is important to memorize scripture.

God's word is a gift to us, somewhat like a box full of treasure. We use treasure to benefit us. It's no good just sitting there in a corner. It is meant to be utilized by the owner.

Well, the word of God is also to be utilized by its reader. Nothing will do a believer any better than scripture. However, I want to go a step beyond just reading it to memorizing it. When you memorize something, it's in the heart of the person.

Ps. 119:11 SAYS, "I HAVE HIDDEN YOUR WORD IN MY HEART, SO THAT I WILL NOT SIN AGAINST YOU".

Memorizing scripture helps you through the day when you may be going through difficult time. You quote a passage to  encourage you. Maybe you are in a conversation with a friend and they ask where is that in the bible?

When temptation comes your way, no better way to defeat Satan but by the word that you quote against him.

Worry sets in, the word spoken will bring peace to your soul.

It takes a little effort. So, how important is the word to you? But it is worth it. Don't use the excuse--I just cannot memorize things. Yes, you can---but only those things that are important to you.

Here is my challenge to all of us, Let's start memorizing today.

So, take one scripture and do whatever you do to memorize it and get it into your spirit. When you need it it will be there to speak it. The Word of God is a sword. It will defeat Satan every time you use it. It is not dull, it is SHARP.

Col. 3:16 says to us---Let the Word of God enrich your life and make you wise.

Let me know how you are doing in this.

Much love,
Pastor G

See you tomorrow!!!!!
