Trust in the Lord, and do good;
So shalt thou dwell in the land,
And verily,
Thou shalt be fed.
~Psalm 37:3
Good morning dear sister!
Thank you for inviting me into your little piece of ‘the land’ every week… it’s one of my favorite places to be! Dwelling in the land where we trust in the Lord and do good is such a rich and rewarding life, and I’m glad that we’re doing this together!
God’s Word is overflowing with promises of hope, peace, grace, mercy and love. It is also full of wisdom for a happy life! Sometimes I wonder if we grow so accustomed to the Lord’s wisdom that we forget that wisdom from above is truly supernatural compared to our natural wisdom. God’s wisdom far surpasses the scientific or philosophical wisdom of our natural human capacity!
The contrast came to my mind after reading the nugget of ‘wisdom’ that was attached to my teabag this morning. It said, “Trust your identity; be in touch with your reality.” It is such a vague sentiment that it could be taken any number of ways! But the real problem with such advice is that it doesn’t point in a direction that is higher than oneself. There is no inspiration to reach or attain any higher goals in this short life.
God’s word instructs us to trust in Him! Our identity is found in Him! He knows your name! Your picture is on His fridge! (so I hear). When we realize that our identity is found in the One who created us in the first place, then we can begin being in touch with His reality, which becomes our reality! I suppose that’s too much to fit on a tiny teabag tag.
But think of it! Trust in the Lord, and do good…so you will dwell with Him and you will be fed by Him! With what does He feed us?
He feeds us with hope and gives us rest; “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” Ps 62:5-6
He feeds us His peace; “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil.4:7
He sustains us with grace and mercy! “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions– it is by grace you have been saved.” Eph 2:4-5
Our God, our Father, loves us so much that He has made a way for us to dwell with Him here on this land even before we enter into His land to be with Him forever! He gives us all that we need to dwell in our reality, even as it fluctuates between endurance and enjoyment in any given moment!
That gives us hope! God’s faithfulness gives us joy! His grace, mercy, peace, hope and love are like a continual feast! Perhaps that teabag tag could be clarified to read “Trust in God, be in touch with His reality”
Hmm……let that steep in your cup for a while! Drinking tea is such a sociable activity. Why not make a pot and invite a friend to have a cup with you? God feeds us, and out of His abundance, we can feed others! Try pouring out some grace, mercy, love or hope on those in your circle, Jesus promises to help you with that!
Scripture says, “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom. Teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.“ Col. 3:16
Trust. Dwell. Be fed. Feed others. Good tag lines for our spiritual tea!
Thank you, my beautiful sister, for dwelling with me as we walk together, trusting in the Lord!
With love, your sister, Celeste
