If anyone is thirsty, let them come to me and drink.
the one who believes in Me,
as the Scripture said,
‘From their innermost being will flow
rivers of living water.’
But this He said in reference to the Spirit,
whom those who believed in Him were to receive;
for the Spirit was not yet given,
because Jesus was not yet glorified.
~John 7:37-38
Good morning dear sister!
What a glorious invitation! “If anyone is thirsty, let them come to Me and drink!” Contrary to this world, where people are relegated to all different sorts of categories, Jesus is calling to everyone, from the least to the greatest!
Are you thirsty today? Water is a necessity for life and has such an important impact on the health of both our bodies and our minds!
There’s nothing better than cool, clean water to quench our thirst or hydrate our bodies! A shower or bath can relax or invigorate us! Or how about a beach? There’s something soothing about the pulse of the rhythmic waves. (Sometimes I wonder if the sound is reminiscent of the rhythmic sounds heard in the womb.) Water is a necessity of life, meant to not only cleanse, but to also revive and refresh!
Whatever Jesus gives, He gives in abundance! He invites us to come to Him and have our spiritual thirst satisfied. He has even more waiting for those who will believe in Him! We will not only be satisfied, we will have an abundance of living water, pouring forth from our innermost being! A never ending flow!
Now, we must remember that at the time Jesus spoke this, He seemed an ordinary man to those He was talking to. They even argued among themselves about His credibility. Those believers had yet to receive the Holy Spirit because this took place before His crucifixion, death and resurrection. Jesus was not yet glorified, yet some believed!
How gracious and merciful that we live in the new covenant! Jesus did not leave us abandoned to fend for ourselves, but sent the Holy Spirit to be our Helper! God pours out His Holy Spirit to those who are born of His Spirit!!
Although we cannot see Him, His Holy Spirit whispers to our spirit! The living water we have received as born again believers is a continual fountain that is meant to flow out to glorify God and to be a blessing to everyone we encounter!
My heart’s desire is for that river of God’s water to flow through me! And for you too! There is no better fellowship than when the Spirit of God in my sister is ministering to me as the Spirit of God in me is ministering to her as well! It is like “deep calling to deep”; communication not understood with the brain, but by His Spirit. It is deeply satisfying and comforting!
Have you ever experienced that? As our faith that God’s living water flows within us grows stronger, our dependence upon Him rather than on ourselves grows stronger too. The flow of living water deepens as well! Apart from Him, we can do nothing. With Him, all things are possible!
We don’t even have to imagine! We can see the power of God in our everyday lives as we spend time with Him. When we spend time with Him, He refreshes us with His life giving fountain; His truth, the fruits of His Spirit, His life! And it all starts with that tiny seed of belief!
I confess, I used to be much more timid to minister to or pray for someone out loud. What if I didn’t do or say the right thing? What if they were offended by my actions or words? What if God didn’t answer my prayer??
It finally dawned on me one day…. I don’t need to have confidence in what I can do or say, I need to have confidence in what God can do or say! I need to let those living waters flow, not keep it dammed up just for myself.
So, in love, I challenge you, dear sister! Will you let those rivers that God has given you flow from your innermost being? I know, I too would rather stay in the background, keep to myself, not try to influence anyone (except you all of course ), but God planned a purpose for each of us, and life is much more fulfilling and purposeful when we are working with Him!
Dear Abba, we love you so much! You know us, inside and out, and are patient with us as we navigate life. Bring to our remembrance all the times You have been faithful so that we might grow in confidence in You more than in ourselves. When we look to you, fill us with assurance that, with Your help, we can walk in Your will and Your ways, and live a fruitful life that is pleasing to you! We choose You, Lord God! Amen!
Keep loving Jesus and moving forward!
With love, your sister, Celeste
