For the Lord gives wisdom;

From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

~Proverbs 2:6

Good morning dear Sister!

The Lord has wisdom for you today! Even though this is yesterday’s ‘Proverbs assignment’ (are you still reading your Proverbs of the day?), it is, of course, just as true for today! And every day!

The Lord, our God, our Abba, is with us every moment of every day to instruct us and guide us in the ways of wisdom! We surely need it more than ever, but it is easy to let that voice be silenced in the tumult.

His voice can be silenced by the ‘other’ that is with us every moment of every day. That ‘other’ instructs us and even guides us in life. I’m talking about the mobile phone.

Let’s face it, the phone rules! If it rings we have to answer it. If we get a notification, we must look at it. If we think of any random thing to say to someone, we must text it. We document our meals, events or outings with photos that we then send to our long contact list. We listen to news and podcasters that form and then confirm our opinions. We are entranced with inane solitaire games and puzzles. Reels…. making fun of people, watching them do stupid or dangerous things.

Think about it….communication technology has put us in touch with more people in the last few years than all the years of human history combined! It has been entertaining, but not much wisdom or understanding has come of it. And, it’s consuming, devouring and overwhelming our society.

In fact, our senses are continually overloaded, a lot of the talk is negative, lies are perpetuated, fraud is rampant and parents worry if they can’t track their kids’ every movement.

“Well, it’s a dangerous world”, someone might counter. The world has always been dangerous, but God has an App for that!

“He holds success in store for the upright,

He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,

For He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones.” (Proverbs 2:7,8)

Success. Shield. Guard. Protect. Vs. Disruption. Foolishness. Negativity. Distraction. Cruelty.

“Then you will understand what is right and just and fair,

Every good path.

For wisdom will enter your heart

And knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

Discretion will protect you

And understanding will guard you.

Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked people.” (Proverbs 2:9-12)

Wisdom, knowledge, discretion and understanding from the Lord, not fallen man, will guard you and give you peace and be pleasant to your soul!

I’m not saying you should trash your phone, they are useful and necessary, but we all have the choice of how to use it. We all have the choice of listening to the world, or listening to the Lord.

As for the Lord, do you think He is surprised at what our advanced civilization is doing to itself? His words of Wisdom were written thousands of years ago, yet they are just as relevant and applicable today because since Adam and Eve, sinful human nature is our inheritance until one is born of the Spirit.

Those who are born of the Spirit are precious to the Lord. The blood of Jesus has made them clean! We are precious to the Lord, dear sister! We are not meant to be influenced by evil, but to recognize it and turn away! We need to always be mindful of where we are being led. If it is anything other than the Word of the Lord, we risk walking in darkness and foolishness.

How can you know? You will know by the fruit! Does the news make you worry or depressed? Turn away! Do influencers make you indignant at the injustices of the world? Turn to Jesus! Do you get caught up and spend way too much time on entertainment? Ask the Lord to give you self-control! Is your sleep constantly interrupted by late night calls? Brace yourself….. put your phone in another room or (gasp) turn it off and let it cool down!

Our Abba has good plans and desires long and fruitful lives for us, so don’t let His call go to voicemail or worse yet, block Him! Let Him teach you wisdom and give you true understanding! Allow Him to even entertain you and make you laugh, give you joy even! He is ever faithful and true, mighty and powerful! He can’t be stolen or lost and He never needs to be recharged!

God has your number, Let Him speak to you!

Keep loving Jesus and moving forward!

With love, your sister, Celeste
