Good Saturday morning family,
Another beautiful week that has been given to us. I hope you have enjoyed it.
Looking at 1 Peter for a moment--- In chapter 4:2, it says to us, "From now on, you must live the rest of your earthly lives controlled by God's will not by human desires."
Our human desires are our emotions and feelings, all that comes with the area of the soul.
The soul part of mankind cannot be trusted. Often we act based on what we feel. That is something we must guard against. We need to learn to filter all our feelings through the "spirit part of man". That's the part of us that relates to God.
Never let your feelings dictate to you your actions towards another or even yourself.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself when the feelings of anger and frustration come your way.
#1- What's the real reason why I am feeling this way?
Be honest with yourself. Could it be fear, or worry? Maybe it is unforgiveness. When you are honest, then you can address the issue in a clear manner.
#2- Have I addressed the person that I feel this way about?
Confrontation is hard. But for things to clear up, there is no other way to deal with this concern.
You never know what this one on one could clear up. As a believer, Jesus reminds us of the right way to confront an individual in Matt. 18:15-20.
See our goal in life is to be controlled by the spirit of God. When you do that, your anger is contained and controllable. At that point, you now can talk about it in a reasonable manner.
#3-Have I reconciled myself back to the one I have just confronted?
The reason for this is simply, if you don't reconcile, then the enemy has some ground to stand on to hurt you with.
Don't give the enemy any space to work against you.
So, choose to manage your emotions, also choose to be calm over being angry, and also to be restored rather than to be a part.
Once you do that, know that you are being controlled by the spirit of God.
Well, Blessings to you with much love,
Pastor G
