“God, You are my God, I shall be watching for You…”
~Psalm 63
Good morning dear sister!
May you be blessed of the Lord today! I hope that you have found yourself delighting in the Lord this past week! Do you remember when I wrote that the more I delight in Him, the more my own heart’s desire grows to delight Him?
As part of delighting in Him, I thought to use His own inspired Word to pray for a friend who is enduring many daytime troubles and having a hard time sleeping at night. Have you ever had trouble like that? (Who hasn’t, right?)
So I interceded for her with God’s promises in Psalm 63, saying,
“God, You are ________’s God; may she be watching for You;
May her soul thirst for You, may her flesh yearn for You!
In a dry and exhausted land where there is no water,
may she see You in Your sanctuary, may she see Your power and glory!
Because Your favor is better than life, may her lips praise You!
So she will bless You as long as she lives; she will lift up her hands in Your name.
May her soul be satisfied as with fat and fatness, and her mouth offer praises with joyful lips.
May she remember You on her bed, and meditate on You in the night watches,
for You have been her help, and in the shadow of Your wings may she sing for joy.
May her soul cling to You, and Your right hand take hold of her.” Amen!

To intercede means to intervene on behalf of another. Do you know that Jesus Himself intercedes for us? Romans 8:34 says “Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.” His work on earth is finished, yet, in His love He continues to plead to the Father on our behalf. He is our advocate and defender before God!
We read in Ephesians 5:1-2, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” We invite God to be with us as we pray, give of ourselves and live according to His will! Do not parents delight when they see their children imitating their own attitudes and activities that are pleasing to God? How much more so our Heavenly Father?
This past week I have had many responsibilities and lots of work to do, but I have found myself rejoicing in the Lord, grateful for His presence even in the most mundane tasks. He has given me wisdom when I needed it and given me a spirit of encouragement instead of being weighed down by the challenges of life.
We’ve all heard many times that the kingdom of God turns the kingdom of this world upside down! It’s true! The more we pour ourselves out to others, in His name, the greater the love we have to share! The natural mind rebels against such a thought! The natural mind yells “I’m being pulled in too many different directions! I don’t have enough time! I need more time for myself!”, but the Spirit urges us to yield to His love and allow His strength and love to flow through us. We don’t need to depend on our own energy or capacity or even the strength of our will!
How liberating! How exciting! Life is no longer doing something for God, it is doing something with God! Hallelujah!
How is your life going? Have you ever tried inserting your own name in a psalm or verse? You really begin to feel the power of God’s Word when you put yourself in there!
Even more so when you give of yourself and pray for someone else! Try it, you’ll like it!
May the Lord bless you abundantly as you reach out to Him!
Keep loving Jesus and moving forward!
With love, your sister, Celeste
