Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on His law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. ~Psalm 1:1-3 NIV
Hello my dear sisters!
Oftentimes, when I read the Psalms, it’s so much more personal and promising if I insert ‘you’, ‘she’ or even my own name in the place of ‘man’. (I haven’t been struck by lightning yet! In fact, it’s instilled a greater reverence and awe in me for what a mighty God we serve!)
So, let’s review those three verses sister-style! If I were reading this Psalm to you, it might sound like:
Blessed are you when you do not walk in step with the wicked, or stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers, but your delight is in the law of the LORD, and you meditate on His law day & night.
You are like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither - whatever you do prospers!
When in a gathering of sisters, it might sound like this:
Blessed is she who does not walk in step with the wicked, or stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers, but her delight is in the law of the LORD and she meditates on His law day & night. She is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields fruit in its season and whose leaf does not wither - whatever she does prospers!
Finally, let’s get a little more personal and put your name and pronouns into this blessing!
Blessed is (insert your name here) when I do not walk in step with the wicked, or stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers, but my delight is in the law of the LORD, and I meditate on His law day & night. I will be like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither - whatever I do prospers!
The more personal God's word becomes to each of us, the more encouraging, challenging & empowering the Scripture becomes! Remember, the Lord knows your name (Ex 33:17) and has inscribed you on His hand! (Is. 43:16)
Father, You are a God who speaks! You are not an idol that sits silent in a temple! You are not so unreachable in Your holiness that you will not stoop to speak words of love, words of direction and encouragement to your beloved! Thank you Lord for how You speak to us through Your Word! Through it You give us light, you give us life, you give us wisdom and understanding!
Make us like trees planted by streams of water, continually yielding good fruit for Your glory and the glory of Your kingdom! In the precious name of Jesus, we ask it!
Try it! And email me your comments at lovingJesus3495@gmail.com!
Much love, your sister, Celeste
